Сервіси та протоколи MMS визначають як такі, що функціюють через повні еластичні комунікаційні профілі OSI та TCP. Використання MMS дає можливість підтримувати як централізовані, так і розподілені архітектури. Цей стандарт охоплює обмін у реальному часі індикаціями даних, операціями керування, оповіщень про звіти. Він визначає відображення об’єктів і сервісів ACSI (абстрактний інтерфейс комунікаційного сервісу, ІЕС 61850-7-2) за MMS (специфікація виробничих повідомлень, ISO 9506) та кадри ISO/IEC 8802-3. Цей стандарт також визначає відображення обмінів терміновою інформацією за не-MMS протоколом. Семантику протоколу визначено в ІЕС 91850-7-2. Вона складається із синтаксису протоколу, визначення, відображення за форматами кадрів ISO/IEC 8802-3 та всіх відповідних процедур, характерних для використання ISO/IEC 8802-3. Це відображення ACSI за MMS визначає, як мають реалізовуватися поняття, об’єкти й сервіси ACSI, використовуючи поняття, об’єкти й сервіси MMS. Це відображення уможливлює взаємодію мереж через функції, які реалізують різні виробники. Цей стандарт визначає застандартизований метод використання сервісів ISO 9506 для реалізування обміну даними. Для визначених в ІЕС 61850-7-2 сервісів ACSI, що не відображаються за MMS, цей стандарт визначає додаткові протоколи. Він описує реальні додаткові прилади відповідно до їхніх зовнішніх видимих даних та поводження, використовуючи об’єктно-орієнтований підхід. Об’єкти абстрактні за характером, їх можна використовувати в дуже різноманітних сферах. Використання цього відображення виходить далеко за межі комунікацій підприємств. У цьому стандарті наведено відображення для сервісів й об’єктів, визначених в ІЕС 61850-7-2, ІЕС 61850-7-3 та ІЕС 61850-7-4. 2 НОРМАТИВНІ ПОСИЛАННЯ
